Eva Miškovičová
She is a jazz and worldmusic singer specializing in traditional Slovak music. Her childhood spent in various folk groups and her professional career path began at the age of 17 within "SĽUK" - Slovak National Dance Company with which she participated, as a soloist, in international festivals in various European cities and recorded several records.
At the same time she begins her collaboration with PaCoRa trio from which her interest in jazz was born and, after moving to Italy, she deepens this path, beginning to contaminate the traditional music of her land with jazz and world music influence. She founded an ethnojazz quartet "ĽAĽA!" together with Sergio Rizzo, Roberto Beneventi and Filippo Pedol with whom she released her first record Sady in 2023.
Graduating in drama, Eva expresses her art through various languages; together with the Italian-Swedish composer Timoteo Carbone, they set up the theatre and music project 'FABULAS TERRAE' and since 2020, as part of the theatre collective Consorzio Balsamico, she has participated as an actress in Romaeuropa festival and other venues and festivals in Italy and abroad.
In the last period Eva is building international female vocal trio with singers and instrumentalists Júlia Kozáková (SK/CZ) and Iro Iordanoglou (GRC).
By moving to Paris she started the collaboration with young polyvalent guitarist and composer Damien Thonnard (BE) with who she begun to investigate her musical roots with even more freedom.
At the same time, Eva has been developing a solo performance that merges her compositions, guitar, voice, and theatrical elements, showcased in Parisian cabarets.
DAMIEN THONNARD
Damien Thonnard is a guitarist of Belgian origin. He developed an interest in jazz in early adolescence and quickly began attending as many concerts as possible. His interest in the music of his homeland grew over time, leading him to discover the work of Aka Moon, Pierre Van Dormael, Octurn, Magic Malik, Nelson Veras… Each of these musicians has a deeply personal approach to their music, and their creative energy greatly influenced Damien’s own musical journey.
After two years of study at the Koninklijke Conservatorium Antwerpen (Belgium) with courses led by Bo Van Der Werf, Nic Thijs, Hendrick Braeckman, and Kurt Van Herck, Damien moved to Montpellier in August 2020 to further his studies with Serge Lazarevitch. It was here that he began to professionalize his musical career, collaborating with colleagues Toussaint Guerre and Benjy Sandler, with whom he recorded two albums.
After moving to Paris he began electronic music classes with Maciek Lasserre and participation in his orchestra broadening his technical abilities and enriching his experimental sound.
He further expanded his musical practice through collaborations with many other musicians, deepening his exploration of improvisational and experimental music as well as traditional music.
In 2023, he joined the group Pyrizein, performing traditional Sicilian music, and formed his own group, “La Messagerie Des Cieux,” in which all the music is improvised. Successively he began working with Slovak singer Eva Miškovičová.
Each of these projects is uniquely different, reflecting the diverse musical path of Damien Thonnard. Damien’s musical style is heavily influenced by his cultural roots. He constantly strives to develop a personal playing style, experimenting with the musical codes he has mastered over time. He enjoys using various effect pedals to explore sounds ranging from rock-inspired to atmospheric, often incorporating noise elements.
